Ascalon establishes the Agent Resources (AR) department

Just as HR manages people, Ascalon has created the Agent Resources department to manage its AI agents. This same process can be applied by other companies as well.

At Ascalon, technology has always been an integral part of our operation—it is not a parallel project or an isolated “innovation initiative.” That is why the time has come to formalize what was already emerging in practice: the creation of the Agent Resources (AR) department.

Just as every company has a Human Resources department to care for people, Ascalon now has a department responsible for managing its artificial intelligence agents.

What is the Agent Resources department?

AR is the equivalent of Human Resources, but focused on AI agents.

While HR recruits, assigns, develops, and evaluates people, AR performs the same functions for agents:

  • Determines which agents need to be created
  • Defines the level of autonomy for each agent
  • Monitors performance, cost, and quality
  • Updates, adjusts, or deactivates agents when necessary
  • Ensures that collaboration between humans and agents is clear and secure

In summary: AR treats agents as a new category of workforce—with defined processes, criteria, and responsibilities.

Why is Ascalon creating this now?

Because both the scale and complexity of agents within our operation have grown.

We already use agents in key areas:

  • Screening of requests, leads, and information
  • Support for pricing (context analysis, history, margin, competition)
  • Customer service and automation (as in our product, TalkZen)
  • Other operational and analytical tasks that are expanding each week

Some of these agents operate almost autonomously. Others work closely with team members. This hybrid collaboration—some agents resolving tasks independently and others working side by side with humans—is becoming the norm, not the exception.

Without a dedicated structure, the risk is clear: scattered agents, lacking standards, insufficient monitoring, and no clarity about responsibilities. AR was created precisely to prevent this scenario.

How this works in practice

At Ascalon, our daily work is now organized into three layers:

  1. Autonomous agents
Handle high-volume, low-ambiguity tasks. Examples: initial screening, information classification, preliminary price analysis, data collection and organization.

  2. Agents in partnership with humans
Prepare information, suggest actions, and carry out steps under supervision. Humans remain responsible for final decisions and judgment.

  3. People
Focus on activities requiring relationships, deep context, responsibility, and decisions that cannot (or should not) be delegated.

This division is not theoretical. It is how our operation is already being structured.

More than just internal efficiency

Creating the Agent Resources department is not simply a productivity decision for Ascalon. It is a recognition that the nature of work is changing.

Companies that continue treating AI agents as “isolated tools” will, before long, face issues we already know from unmanaged spreadsheets or ownerless systems: lack of standards, maintenance difficulties, and loss of control.

AR is our solution to this risk.

This approach can be applied by other companies

The process we are developing internally does not need to remain exclusive to Ascalon.

Any company seeking to automate parts of its operations with AI agents will face the same questions:

  • Which agents are truly necessary?
  • Which can work independently, and which require human supervision?
  • How should performance and cost be tracked?
  • Who is responsible when an agent fails or needs to be updated?

The Agent Resources department approach directly addresses these questions.

For this reason, Ascalon can also support other companies in structuring this same process—by creating the agents, or by organizing their governance and management.

In other words: what we are doing out of necessity can become a service for those seeking to automate with method, not just enthusiasm.

The path we have chosen

At Ascalon, we do not merely wish to “use AI.” We want to build an operation in which people and agents coexist in an organized, transparent, and productive way.

The Agent Resources department is the first formal step in that direction.

And, as with everything we do here, we will learn by doing—and share both what works and what does not along the way.

If your company is also beginning to use AI agents and wishes to structure this process methodically (not just enthusiastically), contact us. We can help organize, create, and govern the agents in your operation.
